Educated in a one-room schoolhouse in an Adirondack village, Dr. Gloria Schrager became a doctor when a scant 4% of the medical profession was female. Dr. Schrager is a frequent speaker at book clubs and book fairs, addressing how she faced down bias, shrugged off harassment, and beat the odds to become a leader in a male profession, all while raising a family and maintaining her dignity and femininity.
Her book, The Complex Life of a Woman Doctor, was displayed at the 2010 ALA Conference in Washington, D.C. and at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany in October 2008. She also appeared on a discussion panel at the 2007 Virginia Festival of the Book.
